Who We Are

Lewis Wind Power is the developer of the Stornoway Wind Farm. Registered in Scotland, the company is a 50:50 joint venture between EDF Renewables and ESB Energy.

EDF Renewables UK is a subsidiary of the EDF Group, one of the world’s largest low carbon electricity companies, and is investing in innovation that is reducing costs for consumers and bringing significant benefits to communities. With an operating portfolio of 36 renewable energy sites including battery, onshore and offshore wind (together totalling 1 GW), EDF Renewables UK are providing much needed affordable, low carbon electricity. EDF Renewables UK has an expanding portfolio with almost 4 GW of projects in planning and development, including wind, battery and solar PV.

ESB was established in 1927 as a statutory body under the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1927. With a holding of 96.9 per cent, ESB is majority owned by the Irish Government. The remaining 3.1 per cent is held by the trustees of an Employee Share Ownership Plan. As a strong, diversified utility, ESB operates across the electricity market, from generation through transmission and distribution, to supply of customers in addition to using our networks to carry fibre for telecommunications. At June 2023, ESB Group employed almost 9,000 people.
