Application under section 19A Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993 in respect of a Scheme for Development affecting the Common Grazings of Aignish, Garrabost and New Garrabost, Holm, Melbost and Branahuie, New Valley, Guershader and Laxdale Lane, Sandwick and Sandwick East Street, Sandwick North Street, Sheshader and Stornoway General
Notice is hereby given that Stornoway Wind Farm Limited, a company registered in Scotland with registered number SC225262 and having its registered office c/o EDF Energy, GSO Business Park, East Kilbride G74 5PG, with the consent of the landowner, The Stornoway Trust, having its principal place of business at the Estate Office, Leverhulme House, Perceval Square, Stornoway, Isle of Lewis HS1 2DD, has applied to the Scottish Land Court for consent to develop a wind farm on common grazings on the Isle of Lewis in accordance with a Scheme for Development. The Scheme relates to the construction and operation of a wind-powered electricity generating station within an area of approximately 1700 hectares situated approximately 2.5 km west of Stornoway, Isle of Lewis. The permanent infrastructure footprint of the proposed Wind Farm amounts to approximately 38 hectares within the area of 1700 hectares. It has a maximum generating capacity of 180MW and comprises (1) not more than 36 wind turbines each with maximum height to vertical blade tip up to 145m above ground level, (2) foundations and crane hard-standing areas, (3) a substation compound, (4) up to 26.2km of access/site tracks, turning areas and water course crossings, (5) two anemometry masts, (6) buried cables for electricity transmission and control systems, (7) temporary construction compounds and areas of hardstanding, (8) temporary peat storage areas, (9) up to 7 borrow pits, and (10) modifications to junctions interfacing with the local road network for two site entrances from the A859. The Scheme affects the following common grazings: Aignish, Garrabost and New Garrabost, Holm, Melbost and Branahuie, New Valley, Guershader and Laxdale Lane, Sandwick and Sandwick East Street, Sandwick North Street, Sheshader and Stornoway General.
The Crofting Commission or any other party having an interest to do so who objects to the Scheme may lodge written objections, including details of the ground or grounds mentioned in section 19A(8) of the Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993, with the Principal Clerk, George House, 126 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 4HH, within twenty-eight days from the date of the advertisement. Copies of the application and productions have been sent to each of the Clerks or acting Clerks of the common grazings affected by the Scheme for Development. The application and productions may be inspected at the offices of the Scottish Land Court, George House, 126 George Street Edinburgh EH2 4HH, Tel: 0131 271 4360, at the offices of The Stornoway Trust, Leverhulme House, Perceval Square, Stornoway HS1 2DD, at Stornoway Library, Cromwell Street, Stornoway, HS1 2DA, by contacting the Clerk or acting Clerk of any of the affected common grazings or by contacting the agents for Stornoway Wind Farm Limited at the address undernoted. It should be noted that any further Orders of the Court, including the Final Order, will be intimated only to those persons who have lodged written objections to this public notification, to the Clerks of the Common Grazings, to the Applicant and to the Crofting Commission. Copies of any further Orders may be obtained from the Principal Clerk of the Scottish land Court upon request.
